Sarah Tchalik, viola

Sarah Tchalik began her musical studies on the violin at the age of seven, guided first by Elina Kuperman and then by Alexandre Brussilovsky at the Versailles Conservatory. In 2011, she discovered the viola: the richness of its timbre and the unique role it plays at the heart of the string quartet became an obvious calling for her.

She chose to explore all its dimensions at the Hochschule für Musik in Dresden, Germany, with Vladimír Bukač, a member of the Talich Quartet, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in 2017. She then continued at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris in the class of Pierre-Henri Xuereb, earning her master’s degree in 2020.

At the heart of her artistic identity lies the Tchalik Quartet, a family and musical adventure she shares with her brothers and sister. Together, the four musicians have performed on stages such as the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Philharmonie de Paris, the Mozarteum Salzburg, the Kulturpalast Dresden, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Their discography, comprising six critically acclaimed albums, reflects a strong artistic commitment and a constant desire for exploration.

Alongside her musical career, Sarah has cultivated a passion for languages and cultures, leading her to earn a bachelor’s degree in Applied Foreign Languages (Russian, German, English) from the Sorbonne.
