Marc Tchalik, cello

Trained from an early age by Macha Yanouchevsky and later Yovan Markovitch, Marc Tchalik continued his studies with Marc Coppey at the Paris Conservatoire (CNSM) and with Günter Pichler in Madrid, before further developing his playing under the guidance of Henri Demarquette. His musical path has been enriched by masterclasses with leading figures such as Natalia Gutman, Valentin Erben, and Gary Hoffman.

With the Tchalik Quartet, he won First Prize at the Salzburg Mozart Competition in 2018 and has performed on major stages including the Philharmonie de Paris, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Mozarteum in Salzburg, and the Philharmonies of Cologne and Dresden. The quartet also pursues a highly regarded recording career and has been teaching at the École Normale de Musique de Paris since 2024.

Alongside his chamber music activity, Marc is regularly invited as a soloist, notably with the Orchestre de Picardie and the Orchestre Étésias, and performs in duo with partners such as Victor Demarquette and Romane Belliot.

He plays a cello by Philippe Mitéran, a bow by Konstantin Cheptitski, as well as an R. Wainio bow that once belonged to André Navarra, on loan from the Anima Music Foundation.
